Aquadive Bathysphere 300 Model 51
BY Watch Paper

The new Aquadive Bathysphere 300 Model 51 is a high end modern update of the classic Time-Depth Model 50, produced with the exact same case as the original and powered by a highly refined all Swiss manufactured and assembled automatic movement.

The original Aquadive Model 50 debuted in 1973 with a design so revolutionary it was patented (US Patent No.337 78 60). A professional dive watch from lens to caseback, the Model 50 incorporated the industry’s first mechanical depth gauge. The new technology required a 47mm case to accommodate the oil filled bronze depth gauge and the electronic quartz movement. No less than astronaut/aquanaut Scott Carpenter approved and endorsed the watch in early advertising programs. The big, bold Model 50 became an instant “must have” amongst the diving elite at a time when modern advanced dive computers were still decades away.

The Fort Lauderdale Watch Hunt was the second location in an international relaunch of the Aquadive watch brand. The Fort Lauderdale Hunt challenged divers to follow a series of underwater clues placed in wrecks along the famous "wreck trek" on the Fort Lauderdale coast. A total of 200 tokens were hidden by noted Florida wreck diver and Instructor Trainer Hugh Hare, of Underseas Sports in Fort Lauderdale. The program was also supported locally by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitor's Bureau and South Florida Diving Headquarters.

Aquadive Swiss Luxuary Dive Watch Brand Re-Launch
BY FastLane Luxury Lifestyle Magazine

To commemorate the relaunch of Aquadive, one of the most famous dive watch brands of the 1960's and 1970's, the company is hosting an exciting international underwater watch hunt: the hidden treasures are new Aquadive Bathyscaphe 100 wristwatches. The program celebrates the essence of Aquadive as a true diver's watch and encompasses famous dive sites from the United States to Europe.

The new Aquadive watch line is a modern update of the wildly popular original Aquadive watches from the 1960's. The original Aquadive brand was founded in 1962, with no less than astronaut Scott Carpenter appearing as an advertising spokesperson. Aquadive's style is one part Sea Hunt, one part Mad Men and all dive watch, reflecting the world's interest in the classic design sensibilities of the 1960's and 1970's. The Aquadive brand encompasses features that most consumers and watch aficionados use to define a classic dive watch: a robust curved case, bold legible face, solid ratcheted one way bezel and Swiss and German components, assembled in Switzerland.

Aquadive NOS Model 77
BY WORLD'S LUXURY GUIDE

With the launch of the 77 NOS Aquadive sports watch specialist Aquadive a unique clock, should delight lovers of vintage watches. For the diver's watch was assembled from original parts from the 1960s and 1970s, which come from the stocks of luxury watch manufacturer.Because all the parts were stored individually wrapped, so collectors will receive a unique opportunity, an original clock from the 1970s, 40 years later, still in new condition can acquire.

The 41-millimeter case of Aquadive NOS 77 was made of steel and frosted. In the lower part of the steel casing has also been coated with a layer of PVD. Thanks to a high copper content, this layer is particularly resistant. The patch bezel has received this coating.Otherwise Aquadive eliminated from NOS 77 on a too-flashy design. The tachymeter scale is engraved with large white indexes and Arabic numerals in the bezel, three hands forming a matte silver with a strong contrast to the blackened face and thus help to a good readability of the time.

Aquadive brings two types of NOS 77 to market. Thus, a version of the diving watch has been fitted with an Anton plate factory, which dates back to original from the 1960s. The automatic movement with 21 jewels and a power reserve of 44 hours. Only about 100 copies are available from this version made entirely of original parts. Another 200 watches were equipped with a modern Swiss ETA 2836 automatic movement that has a power reserve of 42 hours. The case, however, have been assembled in two model versions of original parts from the 1970s. To the reputation as a diver's watch are the Aquadive NOS 77 waterproof to a depth of 200 meters and is available with either a NATO or a rubber strap.

Aquadive NOS Model 77

We've never heard of a 1970s vintage dive watch that still carries a factory warranty, but hey, there's a first time for everything. Aquadive's NOS Model 77 ($990+) takes "new old stock" cases and bezels that were manufactured in the 1970's but never used and fits them with newly produced hands, dials, crystals and gaskets. The result is a watch with stronger vintage bona fides than the many vintage-inspired or reissued watches released over the past few years.

Aquadive is clearly trying to ride the wave of 1960s and 1970s dive watch nostalgia with the NOS Model 77, and the watch's design is about as retro as a pair of platform disco shoes. The unique half-black PVD, half-naked stainless steel case and PVD bezel have an interesting look, but the hooded lug design won't appeal to all tastes.

The watch is available in a limited edition of 150 pieces with a modern ETA automatic movement and 50 pieces with a vintage Anton Schild automatic movement for an even stronger dose of throwback flavor. The ETA movement is a bit more accurate, but we'd go whole hog and choose the vintage Schild motor. Over all, NOS Model 77 is a very novel concept, and makes us wonder: What do some other watch brands have tucked away in their attics?

Aquadive DIVE Watches

AquaDive is a fresh new watch maker on the streets. Their watches are designed in the USA, constructed in Switzerland with cases that are CNC machined and finished in Germany. More interesting is their use of NOS (new old stock) components in the manufacturing process. In some cases such as the NOS model numerous parts from the casing to quartz are brought back from the past.

Aquadive NOS Diver

"In the 1960s and ‘70s, Aquadive turned out a quiver of unmistakably chunky dive watches, including one of the first 1,000 meter water resistant cases and one that incorporated a Bourdon tube depth gauge. The Aquadive name has recently been raised from the deep with two new retro-styled models. But the one we want is the real deal: the limited edition NOS Diver, which features an original 1960s case and plastic crystal updated with a new Swiss automatic movement. "

The feel of the Aquadive Bathyscaphe 300

I would like to share with you a quote, directly from a retail owner in San Francisco - "this beats the S*#& out of anything that I've seen from Tag and Oris" two brands that he used to carry. He was referring to the case and the finish work. The bezel also caught his eye.
